Special counsel Robert Mueller has reportedly scheduled an interview with Hope Hicks. Hicks, a former model, is said to be Trump’s rumored girlfriend. She is also the current White House communications director who keeps a low profile and doesn’t appear on cable news programs. She has been one of the few who has been by Trump’s side since the beginning that many expected to be interviewed. She is also seen as Trump’s gatekeeper.
Her interview is scheduled for mid-November after Trump returns from his trip to Asia.
According to sources familiar with the schedule, Mueller’s team is also set to interview three or four other current White House officials as early as this week.
In an interview, Ty Cobb, White House lawyer, stated, “Nothing about recent events alters the White House’s commitment to fully cooperate with the office of the special counsel.”
Her scheduled interview comes after Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign chairman, was indicted and charged with conspiracy against the United States, tax fraud, and money laundering.
It also comes after George Papadopoulos, one of Trump’s former campaign advisers, pled guilty to lying to the FBI.
Early Tuesday, Trump took to Twitter to deny Russian collusion and tried to distance himself from George Papadopoulos. He also called for the people to focus on tax cuts and “Democratic corruption.”
