On Thursday, State Rep. Mike Noel (R) introduced the bill which would rename the National Parks Highway to “Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway.”
According to Noel, this move is to recognize Trump’s decision to shrink two national monuments, Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante.
He added that the renaming of the highway is to also honor a president who keeps his promises.

He stated, “This is a president who actually delivered on his promises. He has done great things for the state of Utah.”
The bill received heavy criticism from Democrats and environmental groups.
If the bill becomes law, the new name for the highway would appear on maps and road signs. The Department of Transportation will also install a new sign to show the change.

Our “fiscally conservative” representatives, everybody! These jokers are pathetic, they complain about ANY government spending with a Democrat in office, then spend like it’s found $$ once they’re in office. They’re a joke, and they’re spending YOUR tax dollars for this nonsense. pic.twitter.com/s1esUREBBx

Democratic Rep. Jim Dabakis of Utah also responded saying that he’ll introduce an amendment to rename the frontage road after Stormy Daniels if the bill is presented to the Senate.
HB 481, “Donald J. Trump Utah National Parks Highway Designation” passed House Committee 9 to 2. If it gets to the Senate, I will present an amendment that the frontage road be designated as the Stormy Daniels rampway. #utpol pic.twitter.com/GvuVv0me98
