Many of Trump’s democratic rivals are not holding back after he made Attorney Jeff Sessions fire now former FBI Director Andrew McCabe on Friday. McCabe’s firing comes just two days before McCabe was due to retire with full benefits.

On Saturday morning, Trump celebrated McCabe’s firing in a tweet as a victory. He described the firing as “a great day” for Democracy and the FBI.

Trump tweeted, “Andrew McCabe FIRED, a great day for the hard working men and women of the FBI – A great day for Democracy.”

The tweet continued, “Sanctimonious James Comey was his boss and made McCabe look like a choirboy. He knew all about the lies and corruption going on at the highest levels of the FBI!”

However, some Democratic leaders weren’t having it and had some harsh words for Trump.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) scolded Trump telling him that he’ll be fired soon. Swalwell is a House Intelligence Committee member.

Swalwell tweeted: “Gloat now, but you will be fired soon. And it’s not going to be done cowardly, as you’ve done to so many who’ve served you. There’s a storm gathering, Mr. President, and it’s going to wipe out you and your corrupt organization all the way down to the studs.”

On Friday, he also tore into Trump after McCabe’s firing, saying, “it’s how guilty people act.” In the same tweet, he went after Attorney General Jeff Sessions for firing McCabe.

Swalwell tweeted, “We have to fight back. This is [Trump] punishing anyone involved with #TrumpRussiaInvestigation. It’s how guilty people act.”

He continued, “And shame on Sessions. In Trump’s presence he cowers like a boy, but to sing for his supper he thinks he’s acting like a man doing this.”

John Brennan also had some harsh words for Trump saying that history will remember him as a “disgraced demagogue.” Brennan led the CIA from 2013-2017.

Brennan wrote, “When the full extent of your venality, moral turpitude, and political corruption becomes known, you will take your rightful place as a disgraced demagogue in the dustbin of history. You may scapegoat Andy McCabe, but you will not destroy America…America will triumph over you.”

During his interview with Fox News, Democratic Senator Ben Cardin of Maryland stated that the firing “looks very much like it was vindictive and political.”

Democratic Rep. Ted Lieu of California also went after Trump. Lieu suggested that McCabe may be taking legal action. Lieu seems like he knows something because it was revealed that McCabe recently lawyered up. Also, McCabe, like former FBI director James Comey, wrote memos that detailed his interactions with Trump.
