A Trump supporter, Steven Marks, from Connecticut, says he had a “dumb idea” to frame liberals while vandalizing a playground at a local elementary school. He spray-painted “kill Trump,” “Left is Best,” and “Bernie Sanders 2020.”
In the morning after the incident, the students from the elementary school told the principal there were “swear words” on the playground. The principal, Ryan Cleary, then called the police.
Unknown to the perpetrator, he was caught on video camera committing the act. An arrest warrant was issued for third-degree criminal mischief and breach of peace. The police turned over the footage to the local news and Marks turned himself in when he saw himself on tv.
Marks said his reasoning was because liberals are breaking laws and being disrespectful towards our government. He told police he hoped it would appear to have been done by the “Left.”
He went on to tell the officers that he would “never harm the president or any member of government and understood it was ‘stupid’ and ‘illegal.’
“It was just a stupid thing I did at the time,” Marks told The Hartford Courant. “It was stupid, stupid, stupid.”
“On the record. I want to say I’m sorry,” he continued. “It was a stupid decision. I hope nobody wants to do the same because it’s wrong.”
Marks was released on bail.
