On Saturday morning, Trump snapped at a CNN reporter for asking him a question about tensions between him and the leaders at the summit. He then accused CNN of being “fake news” and “the worst.”
The reporter asked Trump about reports that he and other leaders were at odds with each other. He was also asked about leaving the conference early to go to Singapore to meet Kim Jong Un.
The reporter asked, “As you were heading into these G7 talks there was a sense that America’s closest allies were frustrated and angry with you and you were angry with them and you were leaving here to go meet early for talks in Singapore. I’m wondering if you view it the same way?”
Trump was clearly annoyed with the framing of the question. Trump asked the reporter, “Who are you with, out of curiosity?” The reporter replied that he was with CNN.
Trump replied, “I figured. Fake News CNN. The worst.” He continued and said that he “could tell by the question.” He added, “I had no idea you were CNN. After the question, I was just curious as to who you’re with, and you’re with CNN.”

Trump finally answered the question, saying his relationship with the other G7 leaders is a 10. In the answer, he took another jab at CNN saying, “The relationship that I’ve had is great, so you can tell that to your fake friends at CNN.”
This is not the first time Trump has criticized CNN as “fake news.” CNN is one of the news networks that Trump has continually referred to as “fake news” for their negative coverage of him.
