Donald Trump always manages to embarrass himself and the U.S. just by opening his mouth. He did it again today during a joint press conference with the president of Poland Andrzej Duda.
In the press conference, he made some ignorant comments about energy exports. In his opening statements, Trump even joked about how the U.S. could influence the pricing for liquid natural gas (LNG) exports.
Later in the press conference, Trump was asked how long it would take to sign a contract for LNG exports. To which Trump replied, “I think we can enter in a contract for LNG within the next fifteen minutes. Do you have anyone available?”
You can see President Duda laughing at his answer.
After Trump was finished answering the question, President Duda corrected Trump saying that it’s not the presidents who sign the contracts but rather it is the companies that sign it.
The entire joint press conference was awkward and disturbing. During the conference, Trump even mentioned how CNN and MSNBC are fake news. He also refused to say it was Russia that interfered in the election, saying “It could have very well been Russia. It could have well been other people in other countries.” At one point he even blamed Obama for not doing anything about the meddling when he found out about it.
