Thanks to Trump, Canadians boycotting U.S. products and cancelling vacations to U.S.

Canadians have decided to boycott American products and are also canceling their vacations to the United States. This comes after Trump criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and started a trade war with longtime ally Canada.

Last week, after the G-7 summit, Trump insulted Trudeau calling him “dishonest and weak.” He also blamed the “false statements” by Trudeau for why the U.S. did not sign the joint communique.

Specifically, our allies to the North are refusing to buy Kentucky bourbon, California wine, and Florida oranges. They are also avoiding companies like Starbucks, Walmart and McDonald’s.

Even Twitter has been flooded with hashtags that urge shoppers to #BuyCanadian, #BoycottUSProducts, and #BoycottUSA.

There was a man from Ottawa who took to Twitter to post his “Trump-free” shopping cart that was only filled with Canadian products.

Many vacationers who normally would spend their summer in the U.S. reveal they will be staying up north instead.

Someone else urged “Patriotic Americans” to spend their vacations in Canada and buy Canadian goods

According to the Department of Commerce, Canada is currently our second largest trading partner. The country accounted for an estimated $673.9 billion in trade in 2017.  Also, U.S. exports to Canada accounted for estimated 1.6 million jobs in 2015.
