The White House revealed that Trump won’t meet Tuesday’s deadline for filing his tax returns. This was confirmed by White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, where she stated that the president has asked the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for an extension on his tax return.
Sanders stated, “The President filed an extension for his 2017 tax return, as do many Americans with complex returns. He will file his tax return by the extension deadline of October 15, 2018.”
She did not respond to the follow-up question as to why he needed extra time on his taxes.

Since Trump announced his 2016 presidential campaign, taxes have been an issue for him. He broke a long-standing tradition by refusing to release his tax returns. Trump continued to claim that his tax returns were under audit and will release them once the audit is complete. But according to the IRS, an audit does not prevent one from releasing them.

Sarah Huckabee stated that @realDonaldTrump has filed an extension for his 2017 taxes. He needed more time to figure out if he can list Putin as a spouse or not.
