According to the AP, Andrew McCabe kept memos on his interactions with Trump. This report comes just days after Trump fired McCabe.

The memos that McCabe kept are similar to those kept by James Comey. Comey had also kept written memos that detailed his interactions with the President.

Comey’s memos were later used in the investigation by Special Counsel Mueller. At this time, it’s unclear if Mueller will also be reviewing the McCabe memos.

Comey said that the memos he kept were “unnerving.” One of those is when Trump asked him to end the investigation into Michael Flynn. That conversation could be interpreted as obstruction of justice and we may see charges from the Speical Counsel’s office in the future.

The reason Comey ended up leaking the memos is that he assumed it would prompt the hiring of a special counsel.

“I asked a friend of mine to share the content of the memo with a reporter,” Comey told the committee. “I didn’t do it myself for a variety of reasons but I asked him to because I thought that might prompt the appointment of a special counsel.”

McCabe is now claiming that his firing is an attempt by Trump to undermine the Mueller investigation. During his time in as FBI director, McCabe says he had pushed to appoint Mueller.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions said McCabe was fired because he was not forthcoming with investigators and also for unauthorized communication with the media.
