On Thursday, Pittsburgh police detectives are being instructed to bring riot gear to work in the event Trump decides to fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

An email sent to the Pittsburgh police reads, “We may be needed to assist in the event that there is a large-scale protest. Based on this information, beginning tomorrow, April 19, 2018 all major crimes detectives are required to bring a full uniform and any issued protective equipment (riot gear) with them to work until further notice.”

The email goes on to say that they believe a protest would happen within 24 hours of Mueller’s potential firing.

The email was confirmed by Mayor Bill Peduto (D).

According to WTAE reporter Marcie Cipriani, Peduto told her that the email was a precautionary measure.

This news comes a day after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell stated he will not bring a measure to protect Mueller. However, just today, Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) revealed his committee will vote on a measure to protect Mueller. Grassley vowed to do whatever he can to get the bill on the floor.
