One Republican Senator willing to subpoena Trump’s taxes (Details)

On Wednesday, Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine) revealed that she would be willing to subpoena Donald Trump’s tax returns if the investigation shows that Russia was involved in our election.

On her appearance on Maine Public Radio, she said that she wanted an in-depth investigation into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election.

The investigation would include testimony from Michael Flynn as well, in which Collins said she would call for Flynn to testify.

She announced that the committee’s ongoing investigation would disclose whether Russia had anything to do with the election and if Flynn or anyone else was involved.

When she was asked if she would issue a subpoena for Trump’s tax returns, she replied that she would if it requires to find out if Trump had connections to Russia.

“I don’t know whether we will need to do that,” Collins said. “If it is necessary to get to the answers, then I suspect that we would.”

But she added that she hoped that she wouldn’t have to do so.

“My hope is that we’ll have a lot of voluntary cooperation,” Collins said.

Donald Trump has yet to release his taxes. He claims that the IRS is auditing them. According to the latest ABC/Washington Post poll, it shows that majority of people (74%) want to see Donald Trump’s taxes.
