Dana Loesch, the NRA spokeswoman, tried to make the claim that if automatic and semiautomatic guns are banned, then we should ban hands and feet.

She made this claim in response to the horrific shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday that left at least 59 people killed and 527 people injured.

The American College of Physicians made a press release stating that gun violence is a public health issue. They also called for a ban on automatic and semiautomatic weapons. Their president, Jack Ende, wrote: “These are military-style ‘assault’ weapons that were designed to kill as many people as possible as quickly as possible.”

Loesch retweeted the press release with a comment saying:

She retweeted her claim again when The Hill reported on the story of the press release tweeting:

The NRA is usually very quiet for a couple days after a shooting and then they come out with attacks against gun safety advocates.

For example, a week after the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting, NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre blamed rap, movies, and video games for the shooting rather than guns.
