As the Trump White House is preparing for its Christmas party, it decided to not invite LGBT and black reporters to this year’s celebration.
This is said to be the first time since George W. Bush was in that LGBT reporters were not invited to the event.
Chris Johnson, a reporter for the oldest LGBT newspaper, the Washington Blade, revealed he did not receive an invite.
This news comes about a week since April Ryan, an African-American correspondent for American Urban Radio Networks and CNN, revealed she was not invited as well. Ryan has been invited to the party for the last 20 years.
Johnson stated, “My first reaction was I assumed it must have been an oversight.”

He has emailed different White House officials regarding his invite but was just passed around to multiple spokespeople. No one could give him an explanation as to why he was not invited.
Johnson added, “It is consistent with the White House press secretary not calling on me during the on-camera press briefings.”
According to Johnson, he believes the invite issue is “just kind of consistent with the policy of the administration to exclude LGBTQ people.”

As usual, the White House has invited reporters from New York Times, Washington Post and Politico but CNN has decided to boycott the event. Representatives from the Washington Blade and American Urban Radio Networks reveal that their reporters have not been invited.
The White House has yet to comment on this issue.
