On Monday morning, during her appearance on Fox & Friends, Kellyanne Conway claimed Trump knows that Obama tapped his phone. When asked how Trump knows that his phone was actually tapped, Conway replied, “Let me answer that globally. He’s the president of the United States,” Conway said. “He has information and intelligence that the rest of us do not.”
Since Trump’s tweet storm on Saturday accusing Obama of tapping his phones of the Trump Tower, no one is able to say what kind of information was tapped. Obama’s spokesman, Kevin Lewis, came out to say that the “any suggestion” of Obama or any White House official ordering surveillance of Trump were “simply false.” James Clapper, former Director of National Intelligence, has also said that there “was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president-elect at the time, or as a candidate, or against his campaign” within his government agency.
James Comey, FBI Director, has asked the Justice Department to publically reject Trump’s claim saying it is false and must be corrected. It is reported that Trump “did not consult with the people inside the U.S. government who might know before making this claim.”
Conway insisted she wants to get to the bottom of this issue. She says that “The president’s entire point is that people deserve to know.”
