On Saturday night, Senator John McCain took to Twitter to go against Trump pulling out of the G7 statement.

He reassured the nations that Americans will continue to stand with its allies despite what Trump says.

McCain tweeted, “To our allies: bipartisan majorities of Americans remain pro-free trade, pro-globalization & supportive of alliances based on 70 years of shared values.” He added, “Americans stand with you, even if our president doesn’t.”

This was in response to tweets that Trump issued after he left the summit early to sit down with Kim Jong Un in Singapore.

In these tweets, Trump insulted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, calling him “meek and mild.” He also accused Trudeau of “false statements.” It also comes as Trump pulled out of the G-7 statement.
