In a recent interview with Politico, John Boehner, former Republican House Speaker, criticized Trump and members of the Republican party. In 2015, Boehner announced his retirement from Congress in the middle of his term. However, since then he has been keeping a close eye on Trump and his party.

During the interview, when he was asked about his House colleagues Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), he asserted, “Fuck Jordan. Fuck Chaffetz. They’re both assholes.”

He also added that Rep. Chaffetz is a “total phony.” He continued, “With Chaffetz, it’s always about Chaffetz. He elaborated on Rep. Jordan and stated, “Jordan was a terrorist as a legislator going back to his days in the Ohio House and Senate. A terrorist. A legislative terrorist.” Rep. Jordan was part of the movement that pushed Boehner out as speaker of the House.

He added that Trey Gowdy, House Oversight Committee chairman, is his guy. He stated, “Gowdy — that’s my guy, even though he doesn’t know how to dress.”

He also went after Rep Mark Meadows, Freedom Caucus co-founder, Boehner insisted, “He’s an idiot. I can’t tell you what makes him tick.”

Boehner doesn’t think that Trump is a Republican. He asserted, “Donald Trump’s not a Republican. He’s not a Democrat. He’s a populist. He doesn’t have an ideological bone in his body. He also doesn’t believe Trump is a racist or a white supremacist.

He blames today’s political divide on “modern-day media and social media.” He explained, “That kept pushing people further right and further left. People started to figure out … they could choose where to get their news. And so what do people do? They choose places they agree with, reinforcing the divide.”

When he was asked to name the leader of the Republican Party, he replied,  “There is nobody.”

This is not the first time Boehner has spoke out against Trump after he resigned, during an energy conference in May, he has described Trump’s several months in office as a “complete disaster. He continued, “He’s still learning how to be president.”

He also added that he has no regrets retiring from his position. He stated, “I wake up every day, drink my morning coffee and say hallelujah, hallelujah, hallelujah.”
