According to Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.), there is a group of Democrats that is planning to file new articles of impeachment against Trump before Thanksgiving.

Gutiérrez revealed that the group is currently meeting with constitutional scholars to solidify the case against Trump.

He stated, “We appreciate single members putting in on their own articles of impeachment, (but) we’re going to use a lot of constitutional scholars and really make a case that the president should be impeached.”

He added, “I assure you we will not leave you lacking for reason.”

Gutiérrez did not specify what ground he plans to bring up when he asks Congress to remove Trump.

He simply stated, “We believe he’s unfit to be president of the United States, and we believe that he’s violated the Constitution such that he should be impeached.”

It is also unknown which lawmakers are joining him in the effort, though he did name Steve Cohen (D-Tenn.) as a supporter.

Back in August, Cohen announced his plan to introduce articles of impeachment after Trump defended white nationalists who participated in the Charlottesville protest.

Democratic leaders have tried to discourage impeachment efforts because they worry that it could get in the way of the Russia investigation.

But Rep. Gutiérrez says the indictments made by Robert Mueller have fueled the impeachment effort. He stated, “There is increased interest.”

So far two other Democrats,  Reps. Brad Sherman (Calif.) and Al Green (Texas),  have already introduced articles of impeachment against Trump.
