On Friday, Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani suggested that Trump could issue pardons after the Russia investigation is over.

He stated, “When the whole thing is over, things might get cleaned up with some presidential pardons.”

He also added that there was no evidence that shows Manafort should be sent to jail.

He continued, I don’t understand the justification for putting him in jail. You put a guy in jail if he’s trying to kill witnesses, not just talking to witnesses.”

Trump also spoke out against the news saying that Manafort’s “sentence” was “very unfair.”

Trump tweeted, What a tough sentence for Paul Manafort, who has represented Ronald Reagan, Bob Dole and many other top political people and campaigns. Didn’t know Manafort was the head of the Mob. What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others? Very unfair!”

Giuliani’s comment comes as news broke that Trump’s former campaign chair Paul Manafort was being sent to jail. This was due to claims of witness tampering. Special Counsel Robert Mueller told the judge that Manafort tried to contact two potential witnesses and told them to lie about his lobbying work.
