While Trump may have given himself a tax break here in the United States, Scotland just gave him a huge tax hike for Trump Turnberry, one of his luxury golf resorts.
This year, Trump Turnberry was given a tax break of about £110,000, about $147,000 in U.S. dollars.
But starting next year, properties must have a “rateable value” of less than £1.5 million to be eligible for the tax break. This new stipulation would not allow Trump to take advantage of the tax cut because his property exceeds £1.6 million, or about $2.1 million.

Trump has another golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland that will not qualify for the tax break.
The rule has been changed to help businesses that are struggling.
This change may be seen as an intentional jab to Trump since the Scottish government has a bad relationship with Trump.
Members of the Scottish government has praised the new rule.
Patrick Harvie, a Member of the Scottish Parliament from the Green Party, stated, “It’s bad enough that he has a business presence in Scotland. It’s galling to learn that the public purse is giving him a helping hand.”
Martin Ford, a councillor in Aberdeenshire and longtime Trump critic also stated, “Absolutely no-one would think that the best use of nearly £110,000 of public money is to use it to enhance Mr. Trump’s bank balance. He clearly doesn’t need it.”
