On Friday, former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about contacting Russian officials during 2016 presidential campaign.

Shortly after Flynn pleaded guilty, ABC News’ Brian Ross reported that Flynn said that Trump “directed him to make contact with the Russians.”

Flynn is also expected to testify against other members of the Trump family and White House officials.

Flynn is charged with one felony count of lying to the FBI. This means that Flynn could face up to five years in prison. However, it is likely he will only get zero to six months.

He has promised “full cooperation” in the Russia investigation within the last 24 hours.

Flynn stated, “My guilty plea and agreement to cooperate with the Special Counsel’s Office reflect a decision I made in the best interests of my family and of our country.” He continued, “I accept full responsibility for my actions.”
