Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX), who is challenging Senator Ted Cruz this year, has raised triple the amount of money Cruz has raised.
According to new reports by the two candidates with the Federal Election Commission, O’Rourke has raised $2.3 million compared to Cruz’s $803,000.
This is reportedly more money than any Democrat who has run for Senate in Texas has raised in 16 years.
O’Rourke was also able to do this while rejecting all donations from special interest groups.

In regards to his no-PAC money pledge, O’Rourke has stated, “We’re far stronger than we would be otherwise.”
He continued, “It is giving more people a reason to contribute and become part of this. They know that their five, 10 or 15 dollars is really going to make a difference. There is no PAC, there are no billionaires. This is really people.”
It seems as though O’Rourke has a chance to take Ted Cruz’s seat because of his no special interest donation pledge.
In a recent poll, 63 percent of Texans stated they are more likely to support someone who rejects special interest money.
Also, it seems as though Texans are not happy with Trump’s performance in the White House. According to a Gallup poll, 54 percent of Texas say they disapprove of Trump’s job performance to just 39 percent who approve.
