On Monday, Trump was confronted by Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) about his plan to arm school teachers.
During a meeting with governors about school safety, Inslee stood and disputed Trump’s controversial proposal to arm teachers.
Inslee stated that he talked to people who will be affected by Trump’s proposal. He then noted no one was on board with the idea. He also added that he talked to law enforcement who told him they don’t want to train educators as law enforcement agencies.
Inslee concluded his remarks by saying, “So I just suggest we need a little less tweeting here, and a little more listening, and I just suggest we take [Trump’s proposal] off the table and move forward.”
However, it seemed like Trump didn’t like Inslee’s idea. The whole time Inslee was talking Trump was pouting and standing with his arms crossed.

Trump then responded and stated that there are “a number of states right now” who arm teachers. He went on and called on Gov. Greg Abbot (R-TX) to explain how teachers are trained to carry in his state.
The confrontation by Inslee comes after Trump suggested that arming teachers would be a good solution to prevent mass shootings. He proposed this idea during a listening session he had with the survivors of the Parkland shooting.
Even though there are at least eight states that allow teachers to carry, law enforcement groups and teachers organizations have spoken out against the idea. They argue that it will lead to more children dying from accidental shootings.
