On Saturday, Representative Ted Lieu (D-CA), tweeted that Special Counsel Robert Mueller “knows far more than people think” in regards to collusion with Russia in the 2016 presidential elections.

“Important story below. Keep in mind no one was really aware of George Papadopoulos until his guilty plea was revealed. That tells us Special Counsel Mueller knows far more than people think. And Papadopoulos is cooperating with Mueller. The White House should be scared,” he tweeted Saturday.

Lieu may also have some knowledge that the rest of us don’t have. Lieu is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, which was involved in interviewing Trump campaign members to probe their roles in communications with Russia.

Lieu has been a staunch defender of Mueller and his team. He previously warned Trump that firing Mueller would have dire consequences.

The article that Lieu was citing was a recent NY Times story indicating George Papadopoulos revealed Russia ties while getting drunk. At the Kensington Wine Cellar, Papadopoulos told an Australian diplomat that Russia had obtained embarrassing emails that could affect Hillary Clinton. The Australians notified the United States and an FBI investigation ensued.

The revelation by Papadopoulos eventually led to Special Counsel Mueller being placed in charge of the investigation. Papadopolous pleaded guilty to charges of lying to the FBI and has reportedly been working with the Special Counsel since then.

Responding to Lieu’s tweet, one commenter told Lieu “wondering if there is anyone dumber than you in Congress?” Lieu responded, “Feel free to call me dumb because I’m cool like that. But have you read the classified information and attended the classified briefings that I have?”

This appears to be a big “hint, hint.”
