On Thursday, CNN fired Jeffrey Lord after he tweeted “Sieg Heil!,” a Nazi salute.

Lord is a former official in the Reagan administration who is also a staunch Trump supporter.

Lord’s tweet comes as he was in a feud with Angelo Carusone, who is currently serving as the president of a liberal group Media Matters for America.

According to a CNN spokesperson’s statement in regards to Lord’s comments, “Nazi salutes are indefensible. Jeffrey Lord is no longer with the network.”

This isn’t the first time Carusone and Lord butted heads with each other.

This all started because of an argument on Twitter. The argument was mainly about how Media Matters had received financial support from George Soros in the past.

Carusone hit back at Lord saying that one of his columns was “full of lies” and also stated that “Soros gave us one donation, one time…in 2010.”

On Thursday morning, Lord wrote a column for the conservative American Spectator, calling Carusone’s group, “Media Matters Fascists.” Lord described them as “anti-free speech bigots who, in typical fascist style, make it their mission to shut down speech they don’t like.”

Lord went after Media Matters’ promotion of an ad calling for a boycott against Fox News host Sean Hannity. Lord said that Carusone was playing a “fascist game” by targeting Hannity’s sponsors and stated that they have been going after other conservatives for years

Lord wrote, “This is America, Angelo. Not Fascist Italy, Nazi Germany or Communist Russia,”

Then Lord tagged Carusone on Twitter in the column he wrote, in which Carusone replied “Your headline has a mistake in it” and asked, “Why do you expect anyone to take you seriously when you don’t take yourself seriously.”

That’s when Lord responded with the Nazi salute.

After his firing, Lord simply tweeted, LOL!
