Check out the total price tag of Melania’s 145-day late move to the White House (Details)

On Sunday evening, Melania and Barron Trump finally moved into the White House. She delayed her White House move to approximately 145 days. The reasoning she gave for the delay was because she wanted to keep Barron in the same school till he finished. As we know, her delay cost taxpayers a pretty penny.

According to NBC New York, the total cost so far was $24 million to keep Melania and her son in Trump Tower in Manhattan. Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill was able to get a reimbursement for the initial estimate of $35 million and was eventually dropped down to $24 million.

It was estimated that it cost $127,000 to $146,000 per day to guard Melania and Barron at their Manhattan Trump Tower. However, the cost was even higher when Trump decided to visit, and went up to $308,000 per day. So on the lower end of the spectrum of costing 127,000 a day to keep the two in Manhattan, the estimated cost would give a sum of 21.16 million.

Some people on Twitter have pointed that out the money that was spent toward keeping Melania and Barron in New York could have fed homeless veterans for a whole year.

Those who defend Melania’s decision to stay in Manhattan say that it was a smart move as a mother to not take Barron out of school in the middle of the school year. While others see how much money it could have saved if their move to the White House was earlier.

There are rumors floating around the internet on why Melania might want to stay at the Trump Tower in New York. White House and Melania’s spokesperson are not willing to comment on the matter.

As Japan Times pointed out, this move may be an interesting experiment to see how both Donald and Melania get along with each other being so close and seeing each other every day.
