It seems as though the Trump team is continuing to fall apart as the Russia election meddling investigation continues.
Rex Tillerson, former Exon Mobil CEO who currently serves as the secretary of state, expressed his frustration with the administration. He was determined to stay in his position until at least the end of the year. However, over the weekend there were several reports from anonymous sources that he may resign early. The sources refer to it as “Rexit.”
He reportedly agreed with others who thought that it was unprofessional when Trump called out Attorney General Jeff Sessions in a New York Times interview because he recused himself from the Trump-Russia investigation.
During the interview, Trump went after Sessions saying that he “should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.”
Sources who are “familiar with Tillerson’s conversations with friends outside Washington” reveal that he may just be venting. But they also note that he has been frustrated more and doubts Trump more.
Tillerson also disagreed with Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate agreement. He was said to be the most vocal opponents of this decision.
This report comes as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer resigned on Friday and while there is speculation that Sessions may be replaced with former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R).
