On Sunday, a spokesperson for Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.) revealed that Franken will not resign. This revelation comes after a woman came out and accused him of kissing and groping her without her consent.

The spokesperson stated, “He is spending time with his family in Washington, D.C., and will be through the Thanksgiving holiday, and he’s doing a lot of reflecting.”

On Friday, a Los Angeles radio host, Leann Tweeden issued a story that claimed that Franken forcibly kissed and groped her during a 2006 USO tour. At the time, Franken was not in politics and was working as a comedian.

Tweeden also released a photo that shows Franken reaching for her breast while she was sleeping, in which some witnesses say was a staged photo.

Initially, Franken released a statement saying he didn’t recall the skit the same way. He later released a longer statement where he apologized and called for a Senate Ethics Committee investigation.

Tweeden accepted his apology. She also added that she was not calling for him to step down.

However, after Tweeden released her story, Franken’s military escort disputed Tweeden’s allegations. Also, many people have questioned Tweeden’s credibility saying her allegations may have been exaggerated and politically motivated.

The allegations against Franken comes out as GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore is facing multiple accusations, most of them accuse him of advancing on them when they were teens while he was in his 30s.
