Even though Trump may have more than two and a half years until 2020, things aren’t looking good for him.
According to a new Morning Consult/Politico poll, Trump would lose to any Democrat in the 2020 election.
The poll shows that only 36 support Trump vs 44 percent say they would support a Democrat for 2020. Nineteen percent of the respondents also said they were undecided.
This puts Trump 8 points behind his Democratic opponent.
As expected, the results fell along party lines. According to the poll, 80% of people who voted for Trump in 2016 said they would re-elect him. This is compared to 86% of Hillary Clinton voters said they would vote for a Democrat in 2020.

The poll also shows that Trump isn’t doing as well in every demographic group compared to 2016.
In 2016, white voters, who preferred him over Clinton, favored him by 20 points. However, in this poll, it shows that he only has a 2 point lead among white voters.
Interestingly, when Republican respondents were asked if they would vote between a generic non-Trump Republican and a generic Democrat, 42% revealed they would vote for the Democrat while only 28 percent said they would choose the Republican.
This poll comes about a week since Trump has named Brad Parscale, his 2016 digital strategist, as his campaign manager for 2020. Trump had already filed for his 2020 run shortly after his 2017 inauguration.
Currently, Trump’s approval rating is at 38%. It also put Trump at the bottom of the list for presidents since World War II.
