During an interview with KLAS, Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo revealed that Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas gunman, was attracted to Trump’s politics. This was due to the stock market doing well since Trump took office.

Lombardo stated, Paddock “was happy with Trump because the stock market was doing well.”

According to Forbes, stocks have risen almost every month since Trump took office. Although, they also note that there were better gains under five other presidents, which includes Obama.

However, authorities don’t believe his politics correlates to a motive for the massacre.

The sheriff also went into more details into what could have led Paddock to go forward with the deadly attack that happened on October 1st.

He states that Paddock didn’t have any affiliation or communication with any terrorist or extremist organizations.

Lombardo says authorities were able to gather a pretty thorough psychological profile on Paddock. He described Paddock as “narcissistic” and “status driven.”

He also noted that Paddock lost a “significant amount of his wealth” since September of 2015 that he believes could have been a “determining factor” for his actions.

But he added that they still haven’t figured out what led to the gunman to choosing October 1st for the shooting or why he chose Route 91 Harvest Festival. Lombardo states that they may never figure out Paddock’s motive for the shooting.

He says that authorities are still interviewing Paddock’s girlfriend, Marilou Danley. He adds that for the most part, they believe her but have doubts about her story.
